Understanding among Religious Faiths

EVENT DESCRIPTION

The Department of English of the Presidency University arranged a seminar on ‘Understanding among Religious Faiths’ at Aman Conference Hall in Gulshan campus on 3rd August,2013.

Prof Dr Kabir Hassan of Economics and Finance, University of New Orleans, USA, was present as the chief guest and Prof Dr Muhammad Mahboob Ali, vice chancellor of Presidency University, attended the programme as special guest.The session was chaired by Shibli Ahmed Khan, head of the Department of English,Presidency University.

Md Jamal Hossain, assistant professor, and AZMM Moksedul Milon, a lecturer of English department, also spoke on the occasion.

The session was conducted by Aniqa T Hassan, a student of Harvard University, and Arman Hassan. They discussed the necessity of tolerance in people to different religions and their followers.“For a peaceful life and society, we have to show respect to other religions and their followers and at the same time we should not impose our faiths and norms upon others,” the discussants observed.

Prof Dr Kabir Hassan said students of Presidency University will become global people if they can learn to tolerate each other’s view.Prof Muhammad Mahboob Ali said, “As a Bangladeshi, we must believe in our own religion and show respect to other religions.”
