The publication ceremony of Presidency University’s “Journal of Science and Engineering”, organized by the Department of Civil Engineering, was held on the Banani Campus on 1st August,2013.

The Publication Ceremony was presided over by Prof. Tapan Kumar Chakraborty, Dean, Faculty of Engineering.
Addressing the function as chief guest, Presidency University Vice-chancellor and noted economist Prof Muhammad Mahboob Ali said that technology had reached even the remote area of the country with revolution in the mobile phone. “Without science and engineering, the daily life is impossible. We have to work hard for development of proper human resources for optimum benefit of science and technology in the country,” he said while unfolding the journal.

Among others, Dr. MM Shahidul Hassan, Professor of Department of EEE, BUET; Dr Muhammad Nazmul Islam, Associate Professor, Civil Engineering Department, BUET; and Dr. M Abdul Jalil, Associate Professor of Chemistry, Dr. Nazibur Rahman, Assistant Professor of Dept of ECE and Shahruk Osman, Lecturer of Dept of EEE, Presidency University, also
spoke on the occasion.

Speakers told the function that people are benefited from science and engineering and technology every moment, but still the perception and attitude of people in the country towards science and engineering is not much enthusiastic. The educational institutions in this regard can play an important role, they added.
