Presidency University's Dept. of English at its Gulshan Campus arranges a meeting in remembrance of its Syndicate and Academic Council Member, former Professor of the Department of English, Dhaka University and Vice Chancellor of Kabi Nazrul University, Dr. Khondoker Ashraf Hossain on 17th June,2013 at the chamber of the Vice Chancellor. The seminar was presided over by the Vice Chancellor of Presidency University Professor, Dr. Muhammad Mahboob Ali. Dean of School of Engineering, Professor Dr. Tapan Kumar Chakroborty, Head of Civil Engineering Department, Dr. Mahmmad Nazmul Islam, Head of English Department, Shibli Ahmed Khan, Registrar-in-Charge, Rashida Akhter, other faculty members of different departments and administrative officers and staff of Presidency University were also present at the event. The discussants in the event recalled the remarkable contribution of Professor Ashraf Hossain to our education as well as poetry and translation. The speakers of the seminar expressed their deep mourning due to untimely demise of him and expressed their sympathy to the bereaved family members and relatives. They mentioned that the sudden passing away of Khondoker Ashraf Hossain was a great loss for the nation. Vice Chancellor, Professor, Dr. Muhammad Mahboob Ali recalled his sweet experience of meeting him for the first time at an important place. He also discussed on the theme of a poem by the poet. The participants in the meeting were highly moved hearing the speech of the discussants. At the end of discussion, prayer was said for the salvation of his departed soul. The doa was conducted by Mohammad Omar Faruk, Assistant Professor, Finance Department, Jagannath University.
