Syria Mostak is a Lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering at Presidency University, Bangladesh. She earned her B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET), graduating with distinction and securing 5th position in the Department of Civil Engineering. She was awarded the Government Merit Scholarship during her undergraduate studies in recognition of her outstanding academic performance. She is currently pursuing an M.Sc. in Transportation Engineering at the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), Bangladesh.
She joined Presidency University as a Part-time Lecturer in May 2022 and became a Full-time Lecturer in July 2022. She teaches undergraduate civil engineering courses, supervises undergraduate thesis projects, and contributes to academic administration. She currently serves as the Convener of the Departmental Equivalence Committee and has been actively involved in examination coordination and curriculum development. She has published several articles in international peer-reviewed journals and presented her research at international conferences.
Before entering academia, she worked as an Assistant Consultant at Prudential Consultant from January 2017 to April 2021. Her responsibilities included structural analysis and design of RCC and steel buildings, structural assessment of Ready-Made Garment (RMG) factories, ETP design, and review of structural and geotechnical reports. She coordinated with multidisciplinary engineering teams and regulatory organizations, including Accord, Alliance, RSC, DIFE, and RCC. She was recognized as Employee of the Year for three consecutive years (2017–2019) for her outstanding professional performance.
Her research interests include geotechnical engineering, transportation engineering, soil stabilization, geopolymer technology, sustainable construction materials, pavement engineering, and the utilization of industrial and construction waste materials for sustainable infrastructure development.
