Mr. Tahmid Mustafa is an Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Civil Engineering at Presidency University, Bangladesh. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Islamic University of Technology (IUT) and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical Engineering) at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).
Prior to joining Presidency University in July 2026, Mr. Mustafa served in the Department of Civil Engineering at Sonargaon University for over eight years, progressing from Lecturer to Assistant Professor. During his tenure, he held several important academic and administrative positions, including Assistant Coordinator of the Department, Exam Coordinator, and Member of the SAR Committee for BAETE Accreditation, where he contributed to academic planning, quality assurance, examination management, and departmental accreditation initiatives. He has also served as a Part-Time Faculty Member in the Department of Architecture at BRAC University.
Mr. Mustafa has extensive teaching experience in undergraduate civil engineering education, delivering courses in Engineering Mechanics, Engineering Materials, Structural Analysis, Reinforced Concrete Design, Steel Structure Design, Soil Mechanics, Foundation Engineering, and Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory. His teaching philosophy emphasizes the integration of theoretical knowledge with practical engineering applications to prepare graduates for professional practice.
His research interests include Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Concrete Technology, Durability of Concrete, Sustainable Construction Materials, Recycling of Construction Materials, and the behavior of structures under extreme loading conditions. He has published research articles in peer-reviewed journals and presented his work at national and international conferences.
As the Head of the Department of Civil Engineering at Presidency University, Mr. Mustafa is dedicated to fostering academic excellence, strengthening research and innovation, promoting outcome-based engineering education, enhancing industry–academia collaboration, and creating an environment that encourages students to develop the technical competence, leadership qualities, and professional ethics required to address the challenges of modern infrastructure development.
