General Information

Sraboni Islam is a Lecturer in the Department of English at Presidency University, where she applies her extensive academic training and board research interests to enhance both pedagogy and scholarly inquiry. She earned both her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Master of Arts (M.A.) in Bangla from the University of Dhaka, graduating with distinction and securing the 2nd position in both programs. Her primary research interests encompass fiction (novels and short stories), Bengali drama, and modern poetry, with a focus on exploring complex human psychology, internal dilemmas, existential crises, and urban complexities. Applying critical theoretical frameworks—such as Postcolonialism, Magic Realism, Modernism, Ecofeminism, and Marxist Philosophy—her analytical focus examines deep-seated societal wounds, ecological crises, human struggles, power dynamics, and complex state realities through a refined, deep-seated perceptual lens.

Experience

Teaching Experience: 

Lecturer, Department of English — Presidency University  

  • Currently teach six 3-credit courses per trimester at Presidency University.
  • Design course outlines, lesson plans, learning materials, classroom activities, and assessment strategies aligned with course learning outcomes.

Professional Experience:

·         Serving as a House Tutor at the Presidency University Female Hostel.

·         Serving as a Batch Advisor.

Research Experience:

M.A Thesis: Reflections of the Liberation War in the Short Stories of the 1970s.

·        Currently writing a critical study on a novel, analyzing through the lenses of myth, history and capitalist emergence.
