Weekend EMBA (Friday) Program

 Weekend EMBA (Friday) Program

 Presidency University has re-designed its Executive MBA program to fit into the time frame of working executives/managers. They can comfortably spend the weekend (now Friday) for a professional degree like EMBA.

 Our EMBA is designed as a skill-based program; the emphasis is on learning by doing. As a continuing educational program, the students will be able to develop their professional skills along with their full time job. The mid-level executives should be able to use EMBA for furtherance of their career.

 Major Areas of Study:

 (i)                 Marketing              (ii) Finance                  (iii) HRM (Human Resource Management)

 A student may choose two major areas by doing four additional courses (12 credits) from the courses listed in the second area of major.

Program Duration:

A full time student taking 12 credits (4 courses) will take 16 months to complete the program. A student receiving credit transfer or academic waiver may take less time. On the other hand, a student planning to do major in two areas will take additional four months.

Time Frame to Complete the Program:

A student may complete the program within the extended period of 4 (four) years.

Credit Transfer:

Credit transfer will be allowed for Executive MBA program. A maximum of 12 credit hours could be transferred to a student coming from a reputed university/institution having equivalent program in those courses in which they have earned a minimum grade “B”.

Pedagogy of Teaching:

(a)    Team teaching: Team teaching will be used for some of the advanced courses as considered appropriate. This method is used by assigning each course to one internal and one external instructors (facilitators),

(b)   Use of participatory, instead of traditional Question-Answer technique,

(c)    Case Study/Problem methods will be used. Management cases management problems brought by the participants will form the basis of discussion, and

(d)   Democratic class settings will be used  so as to facilitate free-flow discussion for developing independent judgment and creative thinking.

Medium of Instruction:

Traditionally, we use English as the medium of instruction. Textbooks and other reading materials are available in English.

Admission Requirements: 

  • Bachelor degree (3/4 years) in any field of study from a recognized public or private,
  • Two years of work experience; candidates having more than two years of  work experience will be given preference in the selection process, and
  • An acceptable level of English proficiency.

 Degree Requirements: 

  • Minimum passing grade in individual courses is D (i.e. 1.0 on a 4-point scale)
  • Minimum CGPA of  2.0 on a 4-point scale in all the courses registered in the EMBA program;
  • Obtaining a satisfactory grade in the Project Study Report. 

Tentative Class Schedule:

Classes will be held on only Fridays in four sessions. A tentative class schedule is given in the Attachment. The time slot will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Faculty Profile:

In addition to the senior faculty members from the School of Business, a rich pool of part-time and adjunct faculty members from Public University and senior corporate executives teach in the weekend EMBA program.

In addition to dedicated class room (fully equipped with necessary teaching aids), following facilities will be available for the convenience of the students:
